Rough Cuts :: Bartek Konopka's debut feautre film Fear of Falling
This is the first episode of our new series Rough Cuts, a program in which Anna Piwowarska talks in-depth with young Polish filmmakers - this time with Bartek Konopka.
Rough Cuts is our new monthly film program presented by Anna Piwowarska. In each episode Anna will talk in-depth to representatives of the young generation of Polish filmmakers who are gaining recognition here and abroad. These will include directors, screenwriters, actors, directors of photography, composers, animators and others.
This week, Anna speaks to the 2010 Academy Awards nominee (Rabbit a la Berlin, short documentary category), Bartek Konopka. Bartek discusses his highly personal debut feature film ‘Fear of Falling’ which deals with the complex issue of mental illness in the family. Also, the film’s director of photography, Piotr Niemyjski, describes the multi-layered visual language of the film.
Bartek Konopka was awarded the Best Debut Award at this year's Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and Piotr Niemyjski received a Special Mention of the International Jury at the 60th International Film festival Mannheim-Heidelberg 2011.
