Kubot and Melo, who are the no. 1 seeds, beat Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner and India’s Divij Sharan, 7-5, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3, in their round of 16 match at the Grand Slam tournament in the British capital on Monday.

The Pole and the Brazilian will take on France’s Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut for a place in the semifinals.

Kubot and Melo were in 2017 named the men’s doubles team of the year by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

In the Wimbledon men’s singles, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz was knocked out in the third round after losing to Serbian world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, 5-7, 7-6, 1-6, 4-6, on Friday.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Magda Linette crashed out of the women's singles competition at the grass-court tournament in London after succumbing to two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in straights sets, 3-6, 2-6, on Saturday.
