Gortat scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter in the game on Wednesday.
He played in boots marked with the initials AW, a reference to Adam Wójcik, one of Poland’s best basketball players, who in August died of leukaemia at the age of 47.
"I hope he’s looking on at me from up on high. Wójcik's legend will never be forgotten," Gortat wrote on Twitter, under a photograph of his boots.
