Young Digital Planet (YDP) has informed that People’s Education Press (PEP) holds around 60 percent of the educational publishing market in China, although has kept the value of the contract under wraps.

YDP announced that it “will become the leading partner for the digitisation of the resources held by the publisher at the primary and secondary school levels”. The company explained that it is to create digital versions of educational books as well as other digital teaching resources.

The first YDP-led projects for PEP started in 2013, in which the Polish company supplied the Chinese publisher with advanced editing technologies for the creation of digital teaching materials.

YDP intends to expand to other Asian markets from its position in China. “China is opening up to digital education thanks to the widespread use of smartphones and tablets by children there, and this trend can be seen in a great number of other Asian countries,” the company said in a statement.
