Around 260 museums, government ministries and other institutions are expected to take part in the annual Night of Museums in Warsaw, which will be held in the Polish capital for the 16th time.

As in previous years, locations which normally charge an entrance fee, as well as institutions closed to the public, will throw open their doors on Saturday and in the early hours of Sunday.

Special, free transportation lines, some offering vintage trams and buses, will operate in Warsaw.

The Night of Museums is a pan-European cultural event in which museums and cultural institutions remain open late into the night.

In Poland, unlike other European countries, culture-related locations are not the only ones taking part, Warsaw City Hall said.

State institutions, courts, religious centers and schools will also be joining the initiative.

Details of the 16th Night of the Museums events are available here.
