New incentives for film producers will double industry turnover, Poland’s deputy Culture Minister Jarosław Sellin has said.

Sellin added that the Polish Film Institute currently has a turnover of about PLN 140 million (EUR 32 million) a year.
If the incentives go through, some of the costs of producing a film in Poland could be reimbursed by up to 25 percent, with plans for some PLN 104.5 million to be annually earmarked.
“Film production is usually a small factory, which operates for a year or two, absorbing hundreds, sometimes thousands of people, co-producers, technicians, handcrafts and various subcontractors,” Sellin said.
“It’s worth bringing these factories to Poland,” he added.
In 2016, film crews from the UK, France, Belgium, South Korea and Germany worked in Poland, although usually only for two to four weeks, the film production website KFTV.com reported.
It added that the filming incentive would make Poland “more cost-effective for producers, leading to longer shooting schedules.”
