A 36-year-old Polish citizen has been deported from the UK to Poland under the terms of a European Arrest Warrant.

Jan K. originally served ten years for murder in Poland, after being sentenced in 1996 for strangling a disabled woman in a village south of Warsaw.

The motive of the murder was robbery.

On his release in 2006, Jan K. settled in the whereabouts of Zielona Gora, western Poland.

However, he soon broke the conditions of his parole, failing to meet his probation officer, and committing fraud.

When a warrant was issued for his arrest, Jan. K fled the country.

After it was established that he was in the UK, a European Arrest Warrant was issued in April this year.

Jan K. was brought before a UK court last week, and he has now been deported back to the Polish capital, where he was immediately placed under arrest, pending a further trial. (nh/pg)
