Poland’s Andrzej Duda and Switzerland’s Ueli Maurer were expected to discuss issues including cooperation in modern technology and Switzerland’s relations with the European Union.
The Swiss president's visit coincides with the 100th anniversary of the two countries establishing diplomatic relations, the Polish president's chief of staff, Krzysztof Szczerski, told reporters ahead of the talks.
A special anniversary ceremony, organised by the Swiss embassy and attended by the two heads of state, was due to be held at the Polish capital’s landmark Royal Łazienki Park later in the day.
Poland has been part of the European Union since May 1, 2004. Switzerland is not a member, but has extensive bilateral agreements with the bloc.
